The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has defended the military crackdown on Nurul Haque Nur and his supporters, describing the protest at Kakrail as “mob violence.”
According to ISPR, the clash broke out Friday night when protesters ignored repeated warnings to disperse peacefully. Instead, they allegedly attacked law enforcers with bricks and attempted to set fire to structures in nearby areas. Several army personnel were reported injured during the violence.
“Law enforcement urged both sides to resolve differences peacefully, but some activists resorted to organized attacks. Public safety was at risk, so force became unavoidable,” an ISPR statement said.
The army further reiterated the government’s “zero tolerance” stance against mob violence, vowing to take firm action to protect public order and restore calm in the capital.
