Rajshahi University’s Central Students’ Union (RUCSU) nomination distribution faced disruption on Sunday when Chhatra Dal activists forcefully blocked the process. They demanded that first-year students be allowed to vote in the upcoming elections. The protest turned aggressive as the group locked the office gate and overturned chairs and tables, temporarily halting nomination distribution.

The standoff lasted for several hours, drawing reactions from other student groups and teachers. University authorities and proctors were present but unable to immediately resume the process. Critics said Chhatra Dal’s actions undermined democratic norms and resorted to coercion rather than dialogue or peaceful protest.

Later in the afternoon, nomination distribution resumed as a notice by the election commission stated that a meeting will take place and that all candidates of the election are invited to attend the meeting regarding making students of 24-25 session eligible to vote. Authorities also confirmed that despite the disruption, students from all groups could collect forms, and the election schedule will continue as planned, with voting set for September 25.
